They say money can buy just about anything in the world. Well, you know what it can’t buy? All the Unown Mars wants.

Sure, technically he could sit around, let other people do all the hard work, and spend ridiculous amounts of money when the opportunity to buy one presents itself. It’s how he had acquired a couple of his own Symbol Pokémon, but there’s a few problems with that mentality, and they can be listed as follows:

It may take a lot of time for someone to find an Unown and decide to sell it.
You don't stay rich by just throwing around money at whoever.
It just isn't as rewarding as finding them himself, okay?

So, here he is; stepping onto one of the routes where he has encountered Unown in the past. It's late afternoon and his workday was long, to the point that he's still clad in one of those all-too-expensive and perfectly-tailored suits that are to be expected of POG Bank's CEO, but of course, Mars is Mars, and nothing about his expression shows even a slight hint of exhaustion. He even even wears a faint smile, watching the Unown that floats nearby. This one's an Unown-G, and the mere sight of it causes three words to show themselves clearly in his mind:

"I know, Alouette," she murmurs soothingly to the icy maiden. "We will train soon, no? I just need to... finish this." Her voice lilts brightly at the end, a warm smile spared for her pokemon as she asserts, "All done. Time for training."

Rounding a patch of trees on the faint trail she blinks once and then breaks into a warm smile. "Martín!" She calls brightly as she spies the man, her hand lifting to wave a greeting. Briefly watching the Unown-G, she asks with curiosity when her attention focuses on him once more, "Are you here to train?"

It would seem as if no matter where he looks for Unown, he will always end up running into someone he knows, but maybe that’s just a testament to the sheer amount of people Mars is acquainted with in Hoenn.

Georgette Bluebottle is not someone he expected to encounter this far from Mossdeep, yet he smiles at the sight of the gym leader all the same, briefly glancing at the Froslass that brings reminders of his own lost Lachesis. ”Georgette!”

A piercing HOWL breaks through the air just as he greets her, and with it a Delphox appears from among the trees. Mars nods at his Unown-G, and in turn, Gravastar makes quick work of the magician fox with a HIDDEN POWER that causes pebbles to rise from the ground and gather before being shot towards the Delphox as an onslaught of rocks. Nothing quite like a move that changes to always be super effective based on its opponent, no?

”I’m actually here to catch a few pokémon. Seen any like this one, by any chance?” He gestures towards the Unown, and in turn, it stares at Georgette, blinking. ”How about you? Here to train?”

Her expression bright as it seems Mars remembers her, Georgette falls momentarily silent, the woman stilling with her pokemon as the man before them directs his Unknown-G to attack a Delphox. Once the dust and pokeball has settled, she moves forwards again, her hands briefly clasping at Mars's elbows as she pushes up on her tiptoes to air-kiss his cheeks in greeting.

At the question, her head tilts to the side while Georgette settles back into her heels. Giving a little shake of her head she admits, "I do not think I have seen one before, I am sorry. This is what you are looking for?"

Georgette then gives a nod of affirmation as she confirms, "Yes, we are training. Alouette bites people if she is left too long." Her nose wrinkles in disapproval as the Froslass merely chomps her maw together for emphasis of the assessment. "But I am also looking for a Teddiursa or Ursaring. I thought one would be helpful, no?"

Her smile pleasant, Georgette instructs her Froslass with a light, "Frost Breath," at the appearance of an Igglybuff. She blinks in surprise as a Disable follows from the little baby pokemon, continuing with the instruction of "Hex."

As the Igglybuff shivers in terror a pokeball is thrown to contain her. "Perhaps we could search together, no? If you do not mind some training as well?"

It’s with ease that he smiles at her greeting, even when being told she has never seen an Unown before. It’s not surprising, after all, because regardless how many he himself may have and how involved he may be with matters like the Unown Report, those are also things about which most people don’t know much at all. Not like he knows much more than them, anyway.

”Ah, that’s a shame. But, training, huh? Froslass are good pokémon, I should evolve my Snorunt into one sometime.” To replace the one that died, but of course Mars doesn’t say that part out loud. Instead, he laughs. ”I hope yours doesn’t decide to bite me.”

At her comment about the bear pokémon, he nods approvingly. ”Teddiursa are great, I have one that tends after my gardens back at my place.”

A Bidoof, however, is no Teddiursa or Ursaring. It’s a pokémon Mars cares little for, even if one he saw often when growing up in Sinnoh. Still, in the interest of training, he gives his Unown the command, and Gravastar acts swiftly with a beam of red light.

”Nothing to make a search better than good company. I’d be honoured.” The response comes smoothly while tossing a Luxury Ball towards the normal type that continues to be harassed by his Unown-G.

Her expression warm, Georgette nods as she agrees, "They are good pokemon." She then joins in Mars's laughter, her nose wrinkling as she pledges, "I will not let her." Schooling her face into a dire expression, she confides as if it were a matter of utmost importance and truth, "I do not like having to pick up all the little pieces by myself. It is messy, no?" Gigi manages to hold the dramatic reveal for a long beat before her hand lifts to her mouth to quell her laughter, one hand unwrapping to make a little waving motion as she laughs out, "I am sorry, I joke!"

Her mouth a wobbly line as she tries not to grin, Georgette looks over to some nearby rustling as an Exploud appears. A curious chirr from Alouette draws a nod from the ivory-haired woman, and the Froslass chatters with joy.

"Try a Draining Kiss, no?" She directs, her gaze briefly casting askance to Mars as she offers pleasantly, "She is learning a new move."

As Georgette speaks the Froslass drifts closer to the Exploud - with a sharp bite and shake, followed by a pink miasma in the air, Alouette gives the Exploud a hearty shake before throwing it back into the brush. Her expression alighting, Georgette praises, "You are getting better!"

"Oh, Yes," Georgette answers absently as she watches Mars's Unknown dispatch the Heliolisk, a warm smile flashed at the man for emphasis. "She was my second pokemon. My parents gave me a Wooloo when I was little, but Alouette saved me from one of the angry Tauros from out in our pastures, no? She scared him off and then took me home."

Alouette chirrs in agreement with the story, her icy gaze soon snapping to the right as a nearby tree branch shakes. Out spills a Swoobat who wings onto the air, the pokemon met with a harsh Blizzard at Georgette's directive; pelting the poor airborne creature with ice and snow, the Swoobat tailspins into the ground, landing harshly.

Wincing subtly at the poor thing's unmoving form, Georgette quickly tosses a pokeball followed by a soft apology.

There’s always something amusing in hearing stories like those about people’s childhoods – in seeing how different their upbringing had been from his. He had spent much time around both aquatic pokémon and equines when he was a child, but bovines and the like? Not quite.

”I do, actually. Got a few badges and all!” Mars grins. He cares little to prove this, of course, but at the sight of a pokémon he might want to add to his collection, it’s with no hesitation that he releases an Alolan Raichu from the confines of its Luxury Ball.

The energetic pokémon hops onto its own tail and surfs through the air by way of its psychic power, Mars needing to do no more than point at the Pikipek for Notus to head in that direction, soon hitting the bird with an all too damaging ELECTRO BALL. By that point Mars is ready to attempt a capture, of course.

”Oh. This is Notus.” The Raichu waves at Georgette when being introduced, and by its side, the Unown-G watches them with apparent curiosity.

Eyes wide with utmost fascination, a whispers, "Bonjour, Notus," spills from her lips. Her hands lifting to delicately take the Raichu's little paws, she asserts with utmost authority to Mars, "This is one of the cutest pokemon I have ever seen."
